Sun, Solar Storms, Orbital Traffic & Live Solar System

Live solar imagery and solar-storm measurements, satellite and launch tracking, plus the current positions of Earth and all eight planets around the Sun with an automatically updating Moon-phase card.

Public sources: NOAA SWPC GOES SUVI, SOHO LASCO, SDO HMI, GOES X-ray and solar-wind products • NASA DONKI CME analyses • CelesTrak • Launch Library 2 • NASA/JPL approximate planetary elements • U.S. Naval Observatory Moon-phase definitions. Planetary distances are visually compressed and are not navigation-grade ephemerides.

Curated tracking only: ISS, Chinese Space Station, Hubble, representative open LEO spacecraft, and high-orbit/GEO spacecraft. Positions are propagated with SGP4 from public orbital elements. The combined view always overlays the next scheduled launches directly on the map. Launches use Launch Library 2. This visualization is not for collision avoidance or flight operations.

Validated view: looking down from above the north ecliptic pole. 0° is right, 90° is up, and the planets move counterclockwise. Radial spacing is compressed only so every planet remains visible.

Planet positions are calculated in the browser from NASA/JPL approximate Keplerian elements for 1800–2050. Orientation is a view from above the north ecliptic pole: 0° points right, 90° points up, and heliocentric longitude increases counterclockwise. The display preserves each planet’s computed heliocentric longitude and radial order while using separated compressed orbit spacing so all eight planets remain unmistakably visible. The Moon card is a continuously updated phase calculation; phase terminology follows U.S. Naval Observatory definitions.
